Descriptions of Class Levels:

Yoga is for "Every Body"

Private Instruction: New students contemplating adding yoga to their busy lives may find an hour of private instruction key to understanding the individual benefits a Yoga Seva class can provide.

Current yoga students this is an opportunity to have poses, postures, and individual goals evaluated with the intention of improving their personal experience with yoga.
One hour session - $60

Gentle: Slower pace stretches, postures, modifications recommended to provide a positive experience. A gradual improvement to general health, flexibility, and increased breathing capacity occur soon after starting the practice.

Beginning: Begin your training with a balanced program, introducing all of the essentials of a Hatha Yoga practice. Learn to improve your health and energy level as well as how to use your breath naturally and experience its calming effects on the nervous system.

Open Yoga: Gentle Stretches, Invigorating Yoga, Breathwork, Relax

Multi-Level: This class mixes levels for beginning and continuing students. Variations of the postures are introduced as you gain new awareness of body, breath, and mind. The gradual development of the postures leads to increased strength, flexibility, and endurance. Some yoga experience preferred.

Level 1: At this level you need to be aware of your personal intensity level and are encouraged to advance at your own pace, strengthen problem areas, hold the poses longer and deepen your experience with compassion (non-harming).

Level 2:  Students with a dedicated home practice

Pilates: Pilates is a discipline that is based on six principles: concentration, control, centering, flow, precision, and breath. The exercises are bio-mechanically safe and non-impacting. They increase flexibility, improve balance and coordination, build strength, and tone muscles connecting the body and mind.

Insight Meditation with Sujatha:  Sujatha Perideniye chose the monastery life in Sri Lanka from age 11 to 22 to learn spiritual practice after which he began traveling to teach and share his deepest felt knowledge with others in Australia, Canada, and the United States. Sujatha has now made his home in McHenry County and will be leading Vipassana (mindful) meditations on Wednesday evenings at Yoga Seva. He leads with an understanding of East and West psychology.

The purpose of this meditation class is to give guidance on how to see clearly into the nature of the mind. Both beginners and experienced practitioners are welcome.

For more information about Sujatha’s meditation schedule, either visit www.bluelotustemple.org or call 815-444-8915.

Special Needs: Ann has had the privilege of developing the yoga program at Wellness Place (Cancer support Center in Palatine) as well as working with recovering heart disease patients and NISRA (special recreation association) students.  There have been requests from MS, arthritis groups, brain injury, etc., for instruction in consideration of their specific needs. This class will be geared to working with each student at their own level of ability.

Because yoga offers a holistic approach, which brings the body into balance, the student can appreciate the many benefits it offers at whatever level you are able to work.  Call to see how this class can benefit you.
