Pilates The Pilates method, developed in the 1920’s by Joseph H. Pilates, offers a holistic path to total health for any age or fitness level. It is a unique method of whole body conditioning connecting the mind, body and breath through controlled movements. Using the six principles of Pilates-concentration control centering, breath, flow and precision, the exercises focus on core stabilization with movements originating from the inside out by working deep muscles. Pilates develops strength, increases flexibility, and body awareness, while improving postural alignment resulting in an overall sense of well-being. Mat Pilates 60 mins. After seeing a transformation in my body, with improved posture, increased strength and flexibility, I decided to become an instructor. I completed teacher training with Movement education in Chicago in 2003. I have continued my training with a formal certification with the Pilates Institute of American in Florida. I am certified in Mat Pilates and have completed all apparatus workshops. I am currently apprentice teaching to complete the 500hr. teaching requirements and will be testing with both a practical and written exam for apparatus certification in June of 2008. My focus as an instructor is to bring my knowledge of massage therapy, yoga and Pilates to improve clients well being and to attain a healthier lifestyle.
